Dundee Studio Behind A Bonnie Odyssey Focusing On Early Stage Support For Partners
Astrodreamer Studio has revealed a new, revised brand, revamped website and a new focus on early-stage services for partners.
The studio is now offering three key areas of support and expertise:
- A plug-in development team for game studios
- Robust prototyping for new ideas and innovations
- Exploratory pre-production, finding the fun and core audience
Established in 2021, Astrodreamer secured ‘six-figure funding‘ in March 2023 to help complete work on its first title, A Bonnie Odyssey, an open-world, retro-puzzle mystery set in the wilds of Scotland.
The company has also worked with several other Scottish developers in a co-development role. These include Blazing Griffin, on titles including Agatha Christie – Hercule Poirot: The London Case and Settlers of Catan and Takenoko – both for the Tilt 5 augmented reality platform; Yaldi Games‘ Wholesome Out And About and Hyper Luminal Games‘ Casinoverse.
Jordan Hastings, the Studio Director and CEO of Astrodreamer, told SGN:
It was great working with the Blazing Griffin team on several fun projects that presented exciting challenges with intellectual properties like Agatha Christie’s Poirot and Settlers of Catan.
It was great getting to work with many friends at Hyper Luminal Games across multiple phases making compelling colorful and great-feeling prototypes inside the Casinoverse app. We learned much from their processes and enjoyed the collaboration with a studio that is six years ahead of where we are.
Across both studios – and the others we have worked with to date – we admire their tenacity in bringing the Scottish games community together and building a more sustainable ecosystem in the north of the UK. With our rebrand and our new direction, we want to get more involved in making Scotland a bigger destination for the games world. I would love to see Scotland develop a distinct identity for indie gaming and new publishers like we have seen across many Scandinavian countries.
