UK Games Fund Founder Paul Durrant Awarded OBE

Paul Durrant, the founder and director of the UK Games Fund and long-time supporter of and advocate for the games industry across Scotland and the UK, has been awarded an OBE.

In addition to founding the UK Games Fund, Paul was also instrumental in many other projects and programmes which have encouraged and supported new talent over the last 20 years, including Embreonix, Dare to be Digital, the BAFTA Ones To Watch award, the games prototype fund and Tranzfuser.

As the head of the UK Games Fund, Paul continues to support new talent, with the organisation handing out regular grants to developers to support the creation of new concepts and sustainable businesses. To date, the UKGF has helped almost 200 early-stage studios and individuals to produce new work.

Paul Durrant told the Scottish Games Network:

I’m delighted to have received such generous recognition. I’m so lucky to have worked with many wonderful people in video games and in education over the years. I hope my award also helps to demonstrate the continuing recognition of the UK’s early-stage games development sector as a creative and economic powerhouse.
