Powered By Zappaty – Scottish Games Industry Beta Programme Launches

On Friday November 5th, Zappaty Ltd. launched a new Powered by Zappaty beta testing programme aimed at developers and creators across the Scottish games sector.

At a glittering launch event in central Dundee over 30 organisations from across the games sector were present, including InGAME, Firestoke, Unity Technologies, Outplay, Sumo Digital and the Scottish Games Network.

Zappaty Ltd has so far raised over £500k of private equity investment with a further significant sum pledged in support of the business as it moves through the current beta testing stage and toward full commercial launch in early 2022.

John Thornewill, CEO, Zappaty Ltd commented:

It’s amazing and humbling to receive such positive support from across the Scottish Gaming industry, to have so many gaming representatives in the room who themselves have created and launched games and technical advancements in the gaming community from here in Dundee has been overwhelming. Their support for Zappaty is unprecedented in my experience.

Paul Farley, Advisor to the Zappaty Board and founder of game publisher Firestoke also said:

What the Zappaty team have achieved to date is impressive, to create a product that manages large files in the way it does, not just within the Unity development platform but with the potential to scale and pivot into other sectors is a testament to their hard work and entrepreneurial approach to problem solving.

It has been great to spend time with potential beta testers from across Scotland’s Gaming Industry, it demonstrates that yet again Dundee is a supportive and dynamic community when it comes to Gaming and associated technologies.

Zappaty was built by games developers out of frustration with other proposed solutions’ complexity and unreliability.  Zappaty brings a fresh approach to collaboration and backup for developers working with Unity.

The Zappaty solution provides a unique set of tools to enable users to collaborate on the same scene file at the same time, allowing developers to lock and share update from game objects, assets, folders and files seamlessly and all from directly within Unity.

The company plans to launch its C round funding in early 2022.

Zappaty Commercial Director David Stickland told the Scottish Games Network:

Our funding to date has been through Scottish linked private equity. The Investment team are confident that we can scale Zappaty rapidly to a level of over £5 million TO forecast in the first 18 months of launch and employing over 50 staff from our Dundee One HQ, as we head to our C series funding round, it really is a fantastically exciting time for everyone involved in the Zappaty business.
