Main Areas Of Business:
Previously working on Work for Hire with a specialty in Educational Games we now focus on Strategy and Builder games predominantly for PC. Looking to reinvigorate the AA market, taking interesting concepts, sometimes risky ones, and making them into games that can rival bigger
titles in their own way.
Orthrus Studios is a small development studio situated in the heart of Dundee, filled with talented developers from all walks of life. We pride ourselves on bringing big ideas to players and building up the AA industry.
Orthrus is the Two Headed brother of the Three Headed Cerberus, the dog that guarded The underworld in Greek mythology. Orthrus guarded Geryons Cattle and was slain by Heracles (Hercules).
Long sorry short, company is actually called Cerberus Technologies Limited, but for SEO reasons Orthrus Studios is waaaaay better, even if I sometimes have to explain the pronunciation.
Projects and/or Partners:
Kasedo Games (Indie arm of Kalypso Media) are our publishing partners for Distant Kingdoms.
Highlight/s To Date:
The real highlights are coming soon
Greatest Achievement So Far:
Taking Distant Kingdoms from a concept to Prototype and a fully fledged release within the space of three years of our founding, more than doubling the team size and working with some excellent partners around the world.
Tell us something about you that nobody really knows:
We made a physical wallpaper out of our first ever working Save Game file for Distant Kingdoms (this was totally not to cover up the fact that it had been accidentally printed out)
Willing to challenge other companies at which online/multiplayer game:
Europa Universalis 4, our Lead Programmer and Producer can take on anyone in this game! (A few others in the company are also pretty good at it too)
Best Console Ever?
Switch… it’s just the best.. I want every game to be on it, it makes travel so much more pleasant.
If your company was a movie, it would be…?
I have no idea…
