OUT NOW: Autonauts (Denki)

Denki, the Dundee-based studio behind games including the BAFTA award-winning Quarrel,  has released it’s latest game: Autonauts, for PC.

It’s a robot-based crafting, coding and management game (yes, that’s a thing). Players must first gather resources and build basic items to help them colonise new planets. Those items include machines, which can then build robots. Players can then get their android army to help them gather more resources, make more things and strive ever most successfully to the giddy pinnacle of civilisation.

Autonauts_Announcement_Screenshot_9The robots are controlled through an easily understood visual programming language (inspired by Scratch says Denki) and can carry out an astonishing range of other activities such as baking pies, catching fish, planting, growing, harvesting, pottery and SCIENCE!

Autonauts combines the very best of agriculture, simulation, crafting, and production-line genre games into one approachable, stress-free package. Players are free to explore their creativity in colonise mode which introduces all the game’s different components step-by-step, free mode where all structures are unlocked straight away and creative mode where players have unlimited resources to build the offworld colony of their dreams.

Created by former DMA types, Gary Penn and Aaron Puzey, Autonauts has already  downloaded over 330,000 times since the game’s pre-pre-pre-alpha (this is also a thing) debuted on Itch.io back in 2017 and is publisher, Curve Digital’s most wishlisted title ever.

Autonauts’ launch on Steam marks the game’s evolution into a full release and features a Autonauts_Announcement_Screenshot_5complete campaign mode, total audiovisual makeover, massively expanded research possibilities (which utilises the love economy according to the press release), built-in Autonautopedia wiki, transportation, animal husbandry, mix ‘n’ match multipart bots , achievements and all manner of lovely things…

The RRP of Autonauts is £17.99 / $19.99 / €19.99 but during the first week of launch, it can be snapped up for 20% off the regular cost.

Additionally, everyone who supported Autonauts development with a donation of at least $20 during its pre-alpha on Itch.io will receive a Steam key for the game at launch for no extra cost. This is Denki’s way of saying thank you to all those who had faith in the game, from its earliest beginnings.
