Introducing: Secret Lunch (and Shu)

Secret Lunch logoThe Prototype fund, administered by Abertay University has funded a number of companies, start-ups and new studios in the last several months.  The latest of these is Secret Lunch, a new game development team of former Mprof students from the university.

The team has already worked on a number of titles across multiple platforms, including Xbox Live, mobile, browser and Windows 8.  Now however, Secret Lunch is using the prototype fund money to fund the creation of its own, original new intellectual property, a game called Shu.

SHU_PressShotWe’ll let the team tell you more:

Shu is a 2.5D platformer in which a colourful trail of hand-drawn characters run, jump and glide their way up an ancient mountain, forever pursued by a monstrous and unrelenting storm. On your journey to the peak, you’ll encounter fellow villagers who have become lost, stuck, or otherwise incapacitated. Will you leave them to their fate? Or will you stop to save them, making the journey more challenging and giving the ever moving maelstrom a chance to close in? Run or rescue.

20-11-122The game is currently being developed for PC in Unity (so other platforms are definitely on the cards) to be released in mid 2013. http://www.secret-lunch.com will be the hub of info as we release more in the new year and give people an insight into the game.

Capture6You can see the brand new, exclusive trailer for the game here:

capture16We’re quite excited by this one.  Shu is already looking incredible.  The combination of 3D backgrounds and 2D characters promises something quite different to the defiantly 3D approach that a lot of the mainstream platform games stick to.

capture14We’ll certainly be keeping an eye on this one.  Welcome to Secret Lunch, we’re looking forward to hearing a lot more from you in 2013…

You can find the company online, or over on Facebook.  They have of course been incorporated into the endlessly incredible and infinitely comprehensive Scottish Games Network Company Directory.
