Dorkapalooza – Charity Fundraiser – July 9th & 10th – Glasgow

Glasgow’s GameDork community is coming together this weekend, for a weekend of gaming joy – with a purpose.  Over the course of Saturday and Sunday, like-minded folks will be able to gather, in the presence of much gaming hardware – and play games – all for charity.  In this case, the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS).

This is both a fabulous way to spend a weekend AND a damn good way to help some kids who could really use some support.

It all takes place in the Novotel in central Glasgow.

It’s going to be a full on weekend.  Alongside masses of platforms and games, there will be an ongoing Rock Band 3 performance (open to all comers we believe), plus all visitors are encouraged to bring along their handheld devices – regardless of what they are (GameBoy, PSP, iPhone, iPad, you name it…), since you’ll find others to hook up to, compete, collaborate and pay with.

Not only that, but there will be board games there too, with titles like Arkham Horror, Castle Ravenloft, Pandemic, Dixit, Carcassone and even a 4th Edition Dungeons & Dragons.

There will be a series of fund raising events over the course of the weekend, with a variety of swag, exclusive goodies and limited edition ‘stuff’ from some of the world’s biggest developers, including Blizzard, 2K and others…

The whole event costs a measly £10.  Tickets are available now.  Should you be unable to attend, you can still contribute to a very good cause through the GameDork JustGiving page.

Check out the whole programme, book tickets and see what’s on offer over on the GamerDork website.
