Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA) has issued a call for new and unreleased games to feature in its upcoming Drop In And Play session taking place this August.
The free public showcase gives members of the community an opportunity to try out unreleased titles created by Scottish developers, while offering creators a fabulous opportunity to gather real-world player feedback.
Public Feedback for Developers
For individual developers, students, and emerging studios across Scotland, Drop In And Play provides a vital testing ground. Exhibiting at the event allows creators to:
- Observe how players of all ages navigate game mechanics and UI in real time.
- Gather direct feedback to refine playability ahead of commercial release.
- Build visibility within the local Dundee gaming community and connect with fellow developers.
Submission Requirements and Criteria
DCA is looking for playable prototypes or finished titles suitable for audiences aged 10 and above. Submissions are welcomed from independent developers, student teams, and established studios.
- Application Deadline: Thursday 30 July 2026
- Target Audience: Suitable for ages 10 and above
- Hardware Setup: Participating developers are expected to provide their own equipment and devices required to demonstrate their projects.

Developers interested in taking part should send an email directly to isla.wade@dca.org.uk by Thursday 30 July 2026 with the following information:
- Name and studio name
- A concise description of the game and its target audience
- Links to build files, gameplay footage, or relevant portfolio resources
- Social media handles or studio website links

This event will also include games from Abertay University’s 2026 DARE Academy. The DARE Academy games design competition gives six teams of talented students the opportunity to spend the summer creating their own game with support from expert mentors. Students work together across a range of disciplines to create game prototypes – all of which will be available to play at Drop in and Play.
