OUT NOW: Stormcloud Launches New Action-Platformer Junkster Across All Major Platforms

Dundee studio Stormcloud Games has officially launched its latest title, Junkster, today across PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

With Junkster, the team shifts gears (once again), delivering a vibrant, mechanics-driven 3D platformer centred around exploration, environmental clean-up, and a unique crafting/building system. Players control UM-13 (or UM for short), a specialised robot tasked with clearing up planetary debris, converting garbage into useful tools, and navigating hazardous terrain.

Rather beautifully, Junkster is presented as a series of retro comic books. In each action-packed issue, Um goes toe-to-robot-toe with hungry trash mutants and renegade bots.

As a special bonus, each exciting issue comes complete with a Junkster toy to add to your collection.

A Studio Built on Versatility

The release of Stormcloud’s latest title builds upon the studio’s reputation as one of the most eclectic and adaptable developers in the Scottish ecosystem. Over the years, the studio has consistently refused to be pigeonholed, pivoting effortlessly between genres, platforms, and target audiences.

Their track record includes:

  • The Fighting Genre: The stylish, ASCII-art-inspired dungeon crawler Brut@l, which brought a striking, retro-modern aesthetic to PC and consoles.
  • High-Impact Applied Games: The critically acclaimed Island Saver for NatWest, which successfully translated complex financial literacy into an engaging, multi-million-download open-world adventure.
  • Alternative Media: Creative ventures into digital children’s books and interactive origami/papercraft projects.

Premium Experience, Indie Price Point

It’s worth noting that managing a coordinated launch across Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, and PC (via Steam and Epic Store) concurrently is a massive milestone for an indie studio. It requires navigating multiple certification processes, hardware optimisations, and store compliance frameworks all at once – a logistical challenge that often stretches far larger developers and publishers.

Junkster is available to download today across all digital stores, with regional pricing varying slightly between £7.99 and £9.99, offering a premium console and PC experience for under a tenner.
