Realize Music Launches with Development Support from Dundee Studio Pocket Sized Hands

Dundee-based studio Pocket Sized Hands has revealed its involvement in the recently released Realize Music: Sing – a brand new Virtual Reality (VR) singing experience, which brings some of the world’s biggest musical hits to gamers, singers and fans.

The virtual reality application invites performers to lose themselves in an ever-growing catalogue of music with gorgeous, immersive 360 environments that react to the player’s voice and evolve as they sing. The game aims to provide therapeutic benefits such as reducing stress, increasing lung capacity, promoting relaxation and releasing endorphins – while giving you the chance to sing smash hits from top artists around the world.

Realize Music: Sing has launched on the Meta Quest platform with a massive and ever-growing musical library that features songs stemming from licensing deals with Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group – with more to come. Future releases are planned for other platforms, including Apple, Samsung, Sony PSVR2, mobile, PC/Mac, and smart TVs.

Pocket Sized Hands handled all the engineering and technical insights for the VR experience, working closely with the Realize Music team for the past year.

Alan Yeats, the CTO of Pocket Sized Hands, told the Scottish Games Network:

It’s been a great pleasure to work on such an ambitious project with a wonderfully talented team. We couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve managed to achieve, particularly overcoming many of the technical hurdles in creating a first-of-its-kind experience for Realize Music

Realize Music: Sing has secured licensing deals with Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group, granting users access to a vast library of music across all genres, with weekly updates.

The subscription-based app will launch with an introductory price of $9.99 per month or $99.99 for an annual subscription.

Realize Music is led by CEO Mike Wilson, a veteran of the video game industry and founder of Gathering of Developers, known for his work on titles such as DOOM and Fall Guys, and co-founder Mark Roemer, an expert in music, wellness, and technology.

Mike Wilson, the co-founder and CEO of Realize, said:

Fear of judgment keeps more than 80% of people from ever enjoying one of the oldest human traditions, and that’s a real shame. Singing has perhaps the most well-documented physiological and psychological benefits in the burgeoning new science of music for wellness, and we are here to invite people to a personal, private, focused experience that will consistently produce joyous results.

Mark Roemer added:

Singing for our own pleasure is a practice that the vast majority of us in Western cultures have lost, as singing has become performative and for talented professionals only, and we are here to change that, inviting the armies of shower singers of the world to enjoy the most exhilarating personal music experience ever imagined.
