Bigfoot vs Scots is a dark comedy adventure set on the quirky Scottish island of Amadan, where Bigfoot, the sinister sasquatch (along with other mythical mates) is terrorising the population, causing chaos and generally behaving like total neds.
Created by solo developer Haggis Goes Wild, Bigfoot vs Scots transports players to the fictional island of Amadan, where the locals are as eccentric as the landscape itself. The story follows Ann, a fiery young woman returning to the island after years of exile. But her homecoming is anything but peaceful. The arrival of Bigfoot throws the island into turmoil, forcing Ann to navigate a series of hilariously bizarre situations, from navigating local rivalries to surviving the infamous Rusty Badger Pub’s drinking challenges.
Monkey Island meets Frankie Boyle
According to the developer, the game is: “Monkey Island meets Frankie Boyle,” which explains the twisted humour that permeates Bigfoot vs Scots. Expect biting wit, outrageous characters (we’re talking werewolves and a particularly grumpy badger), and enough Scottish charm to make even Loch Ness Monster blush.
But beneath the surface of the slapstick lies a deeper story. Inspired by the developer’s own experiences with adoption and finding her place in the world, “Bigfoot vs Scots” explores themes of identity, belonging, and the importance of family – even when that family consists of eccentric islanders and a surprisingly articulate Sasquatch.
Bigfoot vs Scots is not for the faint of heart. The humour can be sharp, often bordering on the grotesque, and not for the easily offended. But for those who appreciate a healthy dose of Scottish irreverence, this game promises an unforgettable and unique adventure.
Coming Soon
- Following the Early Access release, Haggis Goes Wild has plans for more content in the game including new characters and quests, including:
- Bean-nighe : The harbinger of doom, this supernatural washerwoman has a habit of scrubbing blood-stained clothes by the riverbank, foretelling death. In Bigfoot vs Scots, she might just take a break from predicting doom to nag you about laundry etiquette or offer some surprisingly sage advice—if you can decipher her thick Highland accent.
- Am Fear Liath Mòr (The Big Grey Man) : Towering and mysterious, this folklore-inspired giant brings a mix of terror and hilarity to the Highlands. Don’t let his imposing presence fool you; he has a soft spot for poetry and a surprisingly fragile ego.
- A Bogle : Mischievous, spectral, and slightly unhinged, the Bogle thrives on chaos. Whether it’s setting bizarre traps or engaging in nonsensical riddles, you’ll need your wits (and a lot of patience) to deal with this trickster.
- The Loch Ness Monster : Of course, no game set in Scotland would be complete without Nessie. Expect an unconventional take on the famous cryptid – she’s less about hiding in the loch and more about taking the piss out of tourists and locals alike.
- Stagenwolf: A wolf-like creature with deer-like horns that roams the forest, adding yet another mysterious element to the island.
More Quests, More Shenanigans
With these new characters come new questline’s that stay true to the comedy and absurdity that defines Bigfoot vs Scots. These quests will explore new areas of the island, dive deeper into Scottish lore, and push the boundaries of just how ridiculous – and heartfelt – a game like this can be.
From helping Bean-nighe sort out her ‘laundry list of grievances’ to untangling a centuries-old feud between Nessie and a clan of Angry Neds (NED = Non-Educated Delinquents), every new storyline will bring unexpected twists.

Bigfoot vs Scots is now available on Steam Early Access.
