Do you work in the Scottish videogames industry? A new Scottish Game Workers Survey is looking for your help.
A researcher at the University of Glasgow is surveying to gain a deeper understanding of the experiences, challenges, and opportunities within the industry.
This brief five-minute survey will ask questions about your experience of work – including questions about your background and current role.
Your participation will help shape valuable research that could inform future developments and initiatives in the Scottish games community. By sharing your thoughts, you’ll contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the industry and its workforce.
Dan Jordan, the researcher behind the survey told SGN:
Hello! My name is Dan, I’m a PhD researcher at the University of Glasgow, and have been interested in games ever since I could see. Memories of sitting on the floor watching my dad blast demons in Doom stick vividly in my mind. Since university, the intersection of art and social science has been my passion. Specifically, I am interested in how work is organised in the creative industries.
My current Scottish Game Workers Survey seeks to explore the Scottish video game industry and the people who work within it. The history, diversity, and quality of the sector has fascinated me for some time – so I am thrilled to be able to take a closer look at it.
While a lot has been written about the amazing companies that operate here, my project focuses on the experience of the individuals who make it all happen. I want to know who you are, where you came from, and what you’ve experienced while working in the sector. From job satisfaction to industry challenges, I want to create a more personal picture of the game-making experience.
