Games Ecosystem CPG Meeting: Glasgow, Nov 18

The next meeting of the Cross-Party Group For Scotland’s Games Ecosystem will take place on November 18th 2024 at Glasgow University’s Advanced Research Centre (ARC) from 13:00 – 15:00.

Co-chaired by MSPs Clare Adamson and Michael Marra, the Cross Party Group (CPG) provides a platform to build a sense of unity for games in Scotland. It enables the public to engage with games as a policy point, and is the foundation for building and promoting a thriving games ecosystem alongside the enormous benefits that can bring for Scotland’s future as a digital and entrepreneurial society.

Since the first meeting of the CPG in March 2024, the group has been ratified and now has its own page on the Scottish Parliament website.

Advanced Research Centre

The CPG is grateful to the University of Glasgow’s Games & Gaming Lab, for the use of The Advanced Research Centre (ARC) for this meeting of the group. The venue can accommodate up to 150 in its seminar facility, allowing the group to welcome far more in-person delegates than was possible within the Parliament building at Holyrood.

The meeting will also offer a live online stream via Microsoft Teams. Tickets for both in-person and online are available on the group’s Citizen Ticket page.

Games In Scotland

The games sector in Scotland has huge potential economically, socially, and culturally. On a global level, the sector eclipses traditional entertainment media, generating more revenue than the film and music industries combined.

Scotland has played a pioneering role in the evolution of gaming since the 1980s. The country has produced some of the world’s most enduringly popular games but the CPG wants to focus on the future. There is a clear need for coordinated policy for the sector and a clear vision for the country.
