Women In Games Tackle the Glass Ceiling with Virtual Event

Women in Games, the global activism group dedicated to supporting women in the games and esports industries, has announced a virtual careers, development, and networking expo, to be held on March 9, 2023.

Subtitled ‘Tackling the Glass Ceiling’, the fully-digital event will be free to attend, and will feature a packed programme of talks and workshop sessions that will help women in games begin or advance their careers.

A Place to Share

The event will take place entirely on March 9, and will consist of speaker sessions, workshops, a virtual expo area, and networking opportunities. Notable speakers include Mafalda Duarte, Women In Games Ambassador Coordinator and Studio Director at Nerd Monkeys, and Rebecca Tatlock, Vice President of Business Development, Games, and Emerging Media at Paramount.

The expo will allow attendees to talk directly to studios about career opportunities, as well as other topics in various ‘Ask Me Anything’ sessions. This will be bolstered by the incredible networking opportunities offered by the event, wherein attendees can arrange meetings with delegates from all over the world to answer their pressing questions.

A Fair Future

Marie-Claire Isaaman, Women In Games CEO, had this to say of the upcoming event: “No-one knows better than game makers and players how important collaboration is to success, and the Women in Games Careers, Development and Networking Expo will provide a day full of collaborative, insightful, interactive sessions across global time zones. Designed to address our themes of progression and professional development, the Expo will provide inspiring talks, extensive networking opportunities, and this edition’s innovation, the AMA sessions.

“A successful career is built on knowledge, focus, experience, inspiration, insight and finding a work environment where you can belong – it’s a complex mix, but one foundational element that can’t be missed out is support. It is this particular element that makes the Women in Games Careers and Networking Expo so valuable. Attendees will be able to network with fellow professionals in a mutually supportive environment, and meet companies who are actively committed to gender equality and the tangible benefits that a fair and encouraging work environment can provide.

“And in a time of uncertainty for many, this event provides an opportunity for both studios still recruiting and women facing changes and how to take positive action towards developing and preparing themselves for engaging in new ventures.”
