The RESET internship is a paid programme for people aged 25 and over who have been made unemployed or redundant due to the Covid-19 pandemic and / or BREXIT. The programme offers an opportunity to retrain and join Scotland’s world-class animation, visual effects (VFX) and games industries.
This eight month fully-paid internship programme is designed to transition participants into a new and exciting career in the creative industries.
The programme is open to applicants from all backgrounds, skill sets and all industries. Technical expertise and knowledge of the games, animation, or screen industries is NOT required.
Working full time within a host company, successful interns will also receive additional training throughout their placement to further their skills and give them a gateway into a new career path.

FREE Training Available to ALL Applicants
A series of FREE online training modules will be available to EVERY applicant to the RESET internship.
These training sessions have been created to specifically aid and support applicants in the initial phase of career change. Who’s Eligible?
If you are passionate, motivated, keen to learn new skills – with an active interest in Animation, Visual Effects and Games, then challenge yourself to change and press reset on your career.
RESET is a training programme specifically targeted at aged 25+ who have been disproportionately affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the EU exit. This includes those who were working in sectors such as retail, travel, hospitality, entertainment and events, amongst others.
RESET is aimed at retraining those with transferable skills, and placing them on a new career path within Scotland’s animation, VFX and games sectors.
The RESET internship is open to people from all backgrounds and will promote inclusion and diversity.
It is open to those
- Aged 25yrs +
- Unemployed / Redundant – as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic/ EU Exit
- Living in Scotland (Host companies are a mixture of both remote working and office based)
Programme Timeline
- 26th October – Online Info Event
- 15th November – Application Deadline
- November/December – Shortlisting and Company Interviews
- New Year 2022 – Internships and training begin
- Circa Oct 2022 – Internships end
During the eight months internship programme TRC will deliver additional training to help Interns with their transition into this new industry. Training will be a mixture of both Online and in person sessions.
Working with experienced trainers TRC will create a series of training sessions and modules specifically aimed at enhancing the existing skills of the Interns.
Training session will be customised in line with the Intern and Companies requirements, but could include modules such as:
- Effective Remote Working
- Personal Impact & Influence
- Managing Crucial Conversations
- Managing Mental Health in Work
- Time Management
- Effective Team Working
- Production Management for VFX & Animation
- Budgeting & Scheduling for VFX & Animation
- IT for VFX & Animation
Funding
The RESET programme is funded through the Scottish Government’s National Transition Training Fund, which was created to tackle the rise in unemployment caused by Covid-19 by offering training opportunities for people to learn in-demand skills.
