Dare to be Digital is inviting students and game developers to take over Twitter this Wednesday 9 April, from 9-10pm, for the first ever #darehour question and answer session.
For an hour, the team behind Dare to be Digital will be joined by previous contestants to answer questions from students preparing their applications for this year’s competition.
The deadline to apply to Dare to be Digital 2014 is looming. Teams have until 9am on Monday 21st April to get their applications in.
Elaine Russell, Dare to be Digital Project Manager, said:
With the 21 April deadline for applying to Dare to be Digital getting close, we’re inviting every previous Dare contestant and mentor to take part in the first #darehour session.
We’ll be sharing tips for students preparing their applications, and hearing from many of the supporters of Dare to be Digital about why this competition is unique. Dare is the only way to get nominated for a BAFTA Ones to Watch Award, so the next two weeks are crucial for anyone wanting to get spotted by the games industry.
Hundreds of students apply every year to Dare to be Digital to build a working game prototype, in only eight weeks. Only fifteen concepts from the hundreds of entries are chosen to go forward, picked by a panel of industry experts.
The completed games then go on show to the public – and industry experts – in Dundee in August, at the Dare Protoplay event, which draws crowds of thousands (around 13,000 in 2013). The three winning teams are then picked to compete for the exclusive BAFTA Ones to Watch Award.
Individuals wanting to apply – and teams needing extra members – can contact other applicants through the Dare to be Digital website.
Applications close at 9am on Monday 21 April – Apply here.
