The University of Glasgow’s Humanities Advanced Technology and Information Instititute (HATII) has organised a half day symposium exploring the area of game-based learning and the use of off-the-shelf consumer games technology within an educational context.

- Richard A. Bartle (Senior Lecturer and Visiting Professor of Computer Game Design at the University of Essex, and co-creator of MUD)
- Derek Robertson (National Adviser for Emerging Technologies and Learning at Learning and Teaching Scotland)
- Jo Twist (CEO of the Association for UK Interactive Entertainment, UKIE)
The symposium will explore:
Game-based learning – ranging from the deployment of bespoke educational games in schools to the use of commercial off-the shelf (COTS) titles to support learning – is an area of increasing interest for educators, researchers, games developers and policy makers, who see the potential of video game technology to motivate and educate learners of all ages.
