As we’ve mentioned in the recent past, the Global Games Jam is a 48 hour competition which challenges teams of developers to create a brand new, original game using whatever tools, hardware and platforms they so desire.
It’s a full on challenge, running continuously over two days and incorporates themes and bonus achievements for creating games which incorporate certain ideas or elements.
In 2013 the Jam runs from the 25th-27th of January.
In the past Scotland has been one of the larger participants in the competition, which pulls in entrants in countries all around the world. Then, in November we had the good news that the game jam, which has been primarily located at Glasgow Caledonian University, had secured Edinburgh University’s Pleasance as a new venue, giving the jam even more room.
Now the organisers have announced that they’ve secured a third location, in Dundee, giving the 2013 Global Games Jam the biggest ever presence in Scotland and creating the opportunity that Scotland may be the largest jam participant in Europe…
This is fantastic news. Scotland has established a major presence in the competition and been a very active participant in the past. In 2013, with bases in three cities, we have an opportunity to show the world our creativity and new talent.
Registrations for the Dundee element of the Jam are now open. Interested parties should visit the competition’s website and secure their places asap, as they tend to go very quickly. You can find out more about the competition on the Scottish Game Jam website.
Congratulations to the Game Jam team, for the awesome job they do supporting and promoting the competition.
See you all in January…
