New Seminar Offers Scottish Studios a Practical Guide to the USA Market

For Scottish games businesses with ambitions to break into one of the world’s largest consumer markets, a new seminar offers a rare opportunity to get practical, expert advice on navigating the complexities of doing business in and across the United States.

The Doing Business In the USA seminar, organised by the Scottish North American Business Council (SNABC), is designed to provide companies with a roadmap for success across the Atlantic. It takes place on 19th November at Burness Paull LLP: 50 Lothian Road Edinburgh EH3 9WJ, from 14:00-18:00.

The USA remains Scotland’s top international trading partner, with exports worth over £5.5 billion. For the games industry, it represents a vast and lucrative market, but its sheer scale and regional diversity can present significant challenges for studios looking to establish a foothold.

This event aims to demystify that process. Attendees will have the chance to hear directly from an expert panel, including trade experts and representatives from the states of Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Florida.

The seminar will also feature invaluable insights from Scottish companies who are already finding success in the US market, sharing their first-hand experiences and practical tips on everything from legal and financial issues to setting up and growing a business.

A key focus of the event is understanding the USA not as a single entity, but as a series of distinct regional markets, each with its own unique characteristics and business culture. This is critical knowledge for any studio planning a market entry strategy, whether that involves attending trade shows like GDC, seeking publishing partners, or establishing a direct presence.

The event is supported by the Department for Business and Trade, Edinburgh Airport, and United Airlines, and will be hosted by Burness Paull LLP.

For any Scottish studio considering its next steps in global expansion, this seminar offers a valuable opportunity to learn from the experts and build the connections needed to succeed.
