Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA) is set to host a special gaming showcase, offering the public a chance to play brand-new games created by some of Scotland’s most exciting emerging talent. The Drop in and Play x DARE Academy event is a free, family-friendly session taking place on Saturday, 30 August 2025.
Running from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, the drop-in event will transform DCA’s Meeting Room and ground floor into an interactive arcade. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to try out a range of new games on various consoles, meet the local developers who created them, and learn more about the world of game design.
A highlight of the showcase will be the inclusion of games from this year’s DARE Academy, Abertay University’s renowned student game design competition. This is a fantastic chance to get a first look at the innovative projects being developed by the next generation of Scottish games talent.
The event is open to everyone aged 10 and up, making it a perfect afternoon out for families and anyone interested in video games and the creative process behind them. All children must be supervised by an adult.
This is a wonderful opportunity to support our local creative community, play some fun and original games, and get inspired by the talent shaping the future of the industry in Scotland.
