Dundee’s rich and influential video game legacy will be brought to life in a unique walking tour – and you’ve got one last chance to grab a ticket! Taking place on Saturday, March 29th, the Dundee Gaming Tour is for anyone with an interest in Scotland’s gaming heritage.
From the global phenomenon of Lemmings to the groundbreaking (and sometimes controversial) Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series, Dundee has played a pivotal role in shaping the gaming world. Now, you can explore the city’s iconic locations and discover the stories behind these legendary titles.
Organised by Dundee Photo Walks, and led by local photographer Stephen Finn, this hour-long tour kicks off at 3:30 pm at the Lemmings statues on Dundee’s Perth Road. The 0.5-mile route will take you on a journey through the city’s gaming past, revealing fascinating insights and anecdotes along the way.
While Dundee may still be lacking a dedicated gaming museum, this tour offers the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the city’s gaming history. “I can’t build a museum, but I can start a guided tour,” says Finn, and this tour promises to be an engaging and informative alternative.
FUN FACT: The lead image used in this article was the original proposal for the full set of statues in Perth Road. The statues were created by local artist Alyson Conway.
