For the last two years, we’ve been talking. We’ve had town halls, one-on-ones, surveys, feedback, and deep-dive sessions. I’ve gathered over a thousand data points and had huge amounts of feedback from hundreds of you – developers, educators, and entrepreneurs – about what the Scottish games ecosystem needs to grow and thrive.
Finally, the talking is finished. The work is done.
Today, I am happy (and relieved) to announce the launch of Level Up Scotland: A National Action Plan for the Scottish Games Sector. This isn’t just a report; it’s a community-forged blueprint to transform Scotland into the UK’s first £1 Billion Games Supercluster – and it is ready to be delivered to the heart of the Scottish Government.
The Launch: Two Cities, One Day
On Wednesday, January 21st, we are taking Scotland’s Games Action Plan to the country with two major launch events. We need the community there to show the government, the media, and the world that this is a unified vision for our future.
1. The Political Strike: Edinburgh
- Where: CodeBase Edinburgh (37a Castle Terrace)
- When: 09:30 AM – 10:30 AM
- The Goal: Bringing the plan to politicians, press, and parliament.
- RSVP: Please email me directly to confirm your attendance.
2. The Industry Strike: Dundee
- Where: Abertay CyberQuarter (Bell St, Dundee)
- When: 13:00 PM – 14:00 PM
- The Goal: The homecoming. Celebrating the plan in the heart of the industry with the pioneers who helped shape it.
- RSVP: Space is limited! [Register via CitizenTicket Here]
Why We Need You There
Having you in the room matters. When Ministers see a room full of the talent that delivers £151,382 GVA per head, they see an industry that is too productive to ignore. When the media realise that the games sector is far more than the hits of the past, they’ll see a sector too large and too important to ignore.
This Action Plan belongs to you. It contains the five core recommendations that will scale our sector to £1 Billion GVA by 2030, from the appointment of a Chief Games Officer to the creation of a dedicated investment fund (with help in there for co-dev studios).
Can’t make it? You can still help Scotland’s Games Action Plan.
Starting today, we are launching the “Sign the Plan” initiative on the SGN website. We want to show the government a wall of support from every corner of the ecosystem.
If you want a preview of the final version (or a brief summary) – under embargo until Wednesday 21st – get in touch.
Let’s make January 21st the day the Scottish games sector moves from the country’s “secret weapon” to a national priority.
See you there.
