Scottish Games Sizzle Reel! Dear game developers, Scotland needs your game footage! Event organisers, universities, colleges – we need you too.
As part of Scotland’s presence at EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Japan, the government is putting together a Scottish games ‘sizzle reel’ showcasing Scotland’s games ecosystem.
This will be shown during Scotland’s first spotlight day in the UK Pavilion on 17th April and give the games sector an opportunity to showcase the incredible work being done across the country, from indie teams to industry giants, from colleges and universities to the latest cutting-edge technology.
(A “sizzle reel” is essentially a short, high-energy video designed to showcase the most exciting and compelling aspects of a product, service, event, or person. It’s meant to generate excitement and “sizzle” with viewers).
While we’ve had videos produced in the past, most notably when Scotland had a dedicated presence at major games events (ah, the good old days…) They tended to be a little ‘random’, dated quickly and focused entirely on whatever clips and footage the organisation could get a hold of.
Across the year EXPO 2025 will have an estimated 28 million visitors, so this is an opportunity to do something different. We can showcase all of the incredible work being done across Scotland today – from indie studios to major games and franchises, content creators, event organisers and more.
We need to show the world the vibrant, diverse and flourishing games sector we know and love.
Scottish Games Sizzle Reel
We are inviting every studio and games organisation across Scotland to submit trailers, games footage, promo material, press kits, images logos and more.
The HARD Deadline for submitting content is Wednesday 19th March.
There is an open-access Google Drive folder titled OSAKA 2025 – which you can find here.
There is a README file in there, which says that by uploading material, you agree that you own or have permission to use it and that you give the Scottish Government and partners permission to use it for all promotional activities.
Please help to create a Scottish Games Sizzel Reel, which can be used to showcase Scotland’s games community to the world in the best possible light.
