Jump for Joy! (Again) Flea2! Is OUT NOW For NES And Dreamcast!

Prepare for another exhilarating leap into the world of Flea! as Lowtek Games‘ highly anticipated sequel, Flea2!, launches on physical media for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and Sega Dreamcast.

Following the success of the original Flea! in 2020, Flea2! continues Henry’s mission to liberate his fellow fleas, this time focusing on freeing ALL of the unjustly imprisoned enemies of the greedy king (who have been dubbed here-ticks).

This hardcore platformer will test your skills as you jump, dash, and swim through 90 challenging levels and eight epic boss stages. Designed specifically for the NES, the game now comes on a classic cartridge, allowing you to experience the game on original hardware. A Dreamcast version is also available for those looking for a retro gaming experience with a (slightly more ) modern twist.

A Leap Year Later…

Like its predecessor, Flea!, which successfully launched its Kickstarter campaign on Leap Day 2020, Flea2! continues the tradition, launching four years later. Ally and the development team, driven by the enthusiasm and demand from fans at conventions, have poured their passion into creating an even more thrilling parasitic platforming adventure.

Gameplay Enhancements:

F2! builds upon the original’s unique “always jump” mechanic, adding new layers of challenge and excitement. You start with the dash ability unlocked, which adds a new dimension to level navigation.

Key features include:

  • Always Jump: The core mechanic that makes Flea! so distinctive.
  • Dash: Now available from the start, the dash ability adds speed and precision to your movements.
  • Wormholes: Teleport through levels using strategically placed wormholes.
  • Swim: Navigate underwater sections with improved swimming controls.
  • Moon Jump: A brand-new mechanic that unlocks later in the game. Hold A to charge for a massive jump.

Technical Achievements:

Developed using NESmaker, the game showcases significant improvements to the platforming module, including animated tiles, a redesigned UI with level numbers, more cutscenes (inspired by Tapeworm Disco Party), new music tracks, and numerous bug fixes, such as smaller spike hitboxes, improved swimming, and a Dash that works in boss levels.

Physical Copies:

NES cartridges will be manufactured by Broke Studio, ensuring high-quality physical copies for collectors and retro gaming enthusiasts.

The original Flea! team returns – with Alastair Low on art and game design, Tui on music, and Dale Coop on programming.
