Entries Open For The Women In Games Awards 2020

Nominations have opened for the Women In Games Awards 2020.

The competition celebrates and highlights the incredible work being done by women across the UK, with categories covering everything from development and technical roles, through to business, journalism and mentoring.

From Rising Star nominees, through to an Outstanding Contribution contribution award, the competition is open to nominees at every point in their career.

Thanks to the pandemic, the awards have shifted from their normal dates. The significant dates for this year’s competition are:

  • Entries close – Friday 4 September
  • Nominees announced – Friday 9 October
  • Awards Ceremony – Wednesday 25 November

Thanks to the adjusted dates, the criteria for entry (actively working in the UK games industry are now from May 1st 2019 to June 30th 2020.

The organisers are hoping to be able to hold an actual awards ceremony, but are prepared to hold a digital event, should circumstances require.

  • Rising Star of the Year – Development
  • Rising Star of the Year – Business
  • Creative Impact of the Year
  • Technical Impact of the Year
  • Comms Impact of the Year
  • Businesswoman of the Year
  • Journalist of the Year
  • Games Campaigner of the Year
  • Career Mentor of the Year
  • Outstanding Contribution

This is an opportunity to recognise and reward the amazing women we have as colleagues, contacts and friends across the UK games sector. It’s free to nominate someone and you can enter every category where you believe someone is relevant.

You can see previous winners and the competition Roll of Honour on the WIGA website. There are some incredibly talented, creative and talented winners, but very few Scottish companies represented. This is a chance to recognise and reward your co-workers, colleagues and the women you think are making a difference. To you, to your company, or to the industry as whole.
