Two Scottish Games Nominated for UK Awards

Two Scottish developers – Amicable Animal and Junkfish have had games nominated in the UK Game of the Show award, which takes place at this year’s Gamescom event.

They take their place alongside titles such as Dirt 5, from the legendary Codemasters and developers such as UsTwo, the company behind the multiple award-winning Monument Valley.

Amicable Animal: SOLUS, UK Game of the Show

The nominated games are SOLAS, Amicable Animal’s sleek, minimalist synthwave puzzler and Monstrum 2, Junkfish’s procedurally-generated survival horror (and sequel to the indie-smash Monstrum).

SOLAS is available to add to your Steam wishlist now, but there’s no hard release date as yet.

Tom Methven, the deep organising power behind Amicable Animal told us:

SOLAS started life as a fun experiment, and has grown a quite surprising amount of legs! A year and a half ago, I couldn’t even imagine it being released, let alone getting included on a list of such awesome games. I’m so, so chuffed that more people will be exposed to the unique, neon-soaked weirdness we’re working so hard on thanks to Gamescom.

Junkfish, Monstrum 2, UK Game of the Show

Monstrum 2 is due out towards the end of 2020 and the game is now available for pre-order.

Eltanin Casciani, Junkfish’s Community Manager told us:

It’s an honour to be nominated alongside such amazing games as Alba: A Wildlife Adventure and Dirt 5! We’re working hard to bring you the next instalment of Monstrum in Q4 2020, and hope people will love – and fear! – Monstrum 2 as much as we do. Best of luck to all the finalists. Stay spooky!

The UK Game of the Show is a live digital event which takes place on 24 August . The finalists will be slug it out in a live showcase for the glittering and highly coveted UK Game of the Show Award (sponsored by Barclays).
