The British Film Institute (BFI) is calling for applications for its UK Global Screen Fund, with a significant opportunity available for the games sector through the BFI International Business Development Fund. This fund is designed to help UK screen businesses, including interactive narrative video game companies, to grow their international presence and activities.
The fund offers non-repayable grants of between £50,000 and £200,000 over a three-year period. The core aim is to support companies in creating and implementing business strategies that drive international growth, develop new global partnerships, and increase international revenue streams.
This represents a valuable opportunity for Scottish games companies looking to scale up, secure international co-production partners, or expand their reach into new global markets. The fund supports a range of activities, including corporate development and innovative business strategies focused on international trade.
Key Eligibility for Games Companies:
- The fund is open to independent UK-based companies working in interactive narrative video games.
- Applicants should be micro, small, or medium-sized enterprises.
- Companies should have a track record, typically with a credited game released within the last three years, though considerations are made for newer companies with projects in funded development.
