Hyper Luminal Doubles Headcount & Turnover

Dundee studio Hyper Luminal Games is celebrating its most successful year yet, with the announcement that the studio has doubled both it’s headcount and turnover in the last 12 months.

In true games industry style, the Hyper Luminal team is celebrating by announcing a new recruitment drive, searching for programmers at all levels, a mid-level producer, senior game designer, a junior 2D concept artist and a junior 3D environment artist. These appointments will help the company grow from 19 people, to a healthy 25 by the end of 2020.

Hyper Luminal is a rare example of a small Scottish studio, which has created a viable business and built upon its own success in order to grow and scale. Alongside the commercial success of it’s Big Crown Showdown title (out now on on PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch), the company claims it has attracted over seven figures in terms of international project development investment.

Based in Dundee, Hyper Luminal is now six years old and has shipped 41 projects to 22 clients worldwide, across eight distinct platforms.

The studio is now working on it’s next piece of original intellectual property (IP), for consoles (they tell us that Scottish developers will get a sneak-peek later this year).

While Hyper Luminal may not yet have the same reputation as some of the country’s largest development studios, there’s no doubting that the company’s success to date sets it apart from many of its contemporaries, many of whom suffer from the issue of no longer existing.

Congratulations to Stuart and the entire Hyper Luminal team. We hope to hear far more from you in the near future.
