British Academy Scotland Award Nominees Announced, Following Record Entries

The nominations for the 2011 British Academy Awards in Scotland were announced earlier this week.  Three games from Scottish development studios have been nominated in the Games category…

Cobra’s iBomber Defence, Cohort’s Me Monstar: Hear me Roar and Denki’s Quarrel now go forward to the glittering, star-spangled and celebrity-studded awards ceremony in November.

BAFTA in Scotland received it’s largest ever number of games entries in 2011, with 21 titles being entered, across all platforms, technologies and channels.  This reflects Scotland’s growing diversity within the games world, with developers and games creators from large-established studios, through to one or two man independent companies putting titles forward for the awards.

It also shows that BAFTA In Scotland’s new, ‘games’ category, which opens the award up to any game, on any platform, from triple-A console titles, through to online Flash games – caters for the new, broader industry in Scotland.

Congratulations to Cobra, Cohort and Denki and good luck to all three companies for the awards-ceremony.  If you need help with bow ties, or someone on your table to keep those pesky celebrities away, your friendly Scottishgames staff would be delighted to help out.
