Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition Is Number 1 For Third Week, Sales Hit 8 Million

The Xbox 360 version of Minecraft is doing rather well these days.  In the last two weeks we’ve been able to mention  it sitting at the top of the UK all-format charts, fighting off the competition from many of the world’s largest franchises.

This week, it’s the hat trick.  Another number one slot.  Well done Minecraft, Mojang, 4J Studios and Microsoft.

But the good news doesn’t stop there.  It’s also been revealed that Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition has so far sold 8 million copies.  What’s even more impressive is that the last million units of that figure were sold in July and August.

According to Gamespot that’s $160M in revenue.  Which is quite impressive.

The site also revealed that the next major Minecraft release would be a new version for the Xbox One.

In the meantime, good news for 360 players.  The game’s latest update (Title Update 12 if you’re keeping track) has an impressive list of new content and changes.

Brace yourselves, this is a list and a half…

Finally, speculation is rife that evil video games (Minecraft?) were behind a ‘mass brawl’ at Legoland in which two men were banned for life.  One man ‘brandished a metal pole’, sounds like he thought he had crafted a sword to us.  Maybe the other man looked like a Creeper?
