Showcasing Scotland’s Games community: Earlier this month, I announced the new vision for the Scottish Games Network: to evolve from a news site into a dynamic, multi-platform media hub for our entire ecosystem. The response has been fantastic, and the next crucial step is to open up the platform to the most important voices across our industry: yours – the creators, developers, educators, academics and organisations across Scotland.
A strong, representative industry needs a plurality of voices. It needs a place for debate, for sharing expertise, for honest reflection, and for showcasing the incredible depth of knowledge we have right here. To that end, I am officially seeking your thoughts, opinions, and expertise.
We are looking for opinion pieces, editorials, and thought leadership articles from every corner of our industry. We want to hear from:
- Studio Leaders & Founders: What are the biggest challenges and opportunities you see? What lessons have you learned?
- Developers of all disciplines: Share your expertise. Write about a new programming technique, a breakthrough in art production, a narrative design challenge, or your approach to audio, accessibility or events. Looking for help, or got something to share – this is your chance.
- Academics & Researchers: What are the key findings from your latest research? How can academia and industry work more closely together? How can we foster stronger connections between education and industry?
- Students & Recent Graduates: What are your hopes for the industry? What does the next generation of talent need to thrive? What are the biggest challenges you are finding in accessing the industry?
- Games-Adjacent Professionals: If you work in law, finance, HR, or marketing for the games sector, share your invaluable insights.
What kind of content are we looking for?
- Opinion Pieces: Your take on the latest industry trends, from AI integration to new business models.
- Thought Leadership: In-depth articles sharing your unique expertise.
- Developer Diaries & Post-Mortems: A behind-the-scenes look at your project – the triumphs and the challenges.
- How-To Guides & Tutorials: Practical advice that can help your peers.
- Academic Insights: Accessible summaries of new research that can inform and inspire the industry.
This is your platform to share your knowledge, raise your profile, and contribute to building a more connected and collaborative community. We want to be the central resource for the entire sector, and that starts with amplifying the voices within it.
If you have an idea for an article, a draft you’d like to submit, or want to discuss a potential topic, please get in touch with me directly.
Let’s start showcasing Scotland’s games, together.
