- A new Switch IS coming. Good luck getting one – Plans for a slightly upgraded Switch have come to fore via Samsung, who have been tapped for several million 720p OLED screens. Sources suggest it’ll support 4K but also that there’s likely to be very few available at launch.
- The DMCA takedown is coming from inside the house! – Frogwares takes legal action to remove it’s own game from Steam after publisher Nacon released a stolen and modified version without the devs’ approval.
- Grand Theft Ought to load a lot quicker – A fan has found a way to reduce GTA: Online’s load time by 70% (around four whole minutes!) and is hoping Rockstar will implement their changes.
- UK games industry seeks small island on which to store all its money – Consumers spent £4.4 billion on games last year, amounting to nearly half of the whole entertainment sector.
- Epic falls for the guys behind multiplayer hit – Epic Games has acquired Mediatonic, the UK-based creators of Fall Guys.
- Award-baiting game receives record number of BAFTA nominations – Last of Us 2 developers Naughty Dog would like to thank all of its team who underwent taxing crunch conditions to make it happen… oh wait.
- You’re a menace Troy – GamerGate apologist Troy Leavitt has resigned from his role as lead producer of Hogwarts Legacy amid the continued controversy around the game. Unfortunately, the game remains based in the Harry Potter universe.
- Zynga purchases Torchlight developer Echtra Games, proving that they do still exist– The acquisition follows the Facebook game pioneers recent announcement of Star Wars: Hunters for Nintendo Switch.
