IGDA Scotland To Hold Mini Game Jam For Primary School Kids

IGDA Scotland has announced its first ever Mini Game Jam, focused on primary school children. The organisation is working with researcher Amanda Wilson, who has worked for the last three years, with primary school age children, using the programming language Scratch.

Amanda recognised a real need for younger children to be given the chance to learn more about game creation and set out to make it happen with a mini game jam.

The primary purpose of the day is to provide a fun and engaging experience for the children, the mini game jam will also tie in some important educational aspects – proving to the kids that games are not simply there to be played, but they can also build them for themselves.

Children from primary schools in the Greater Glasgow area will attend the event and work in teams to develop games around a given theme. Volunteers and mentors will be on hand to provide guidance and a helping hand.

The event will be held on 18th June at Smithycroft Secondary School. The Mini Game Jam is being sponsored by the completely awesome Outplay, who IGDA Scotland would like to thank very much…
