We’re looking for game developers and creators working on projects outside the consumer games market.
Video games are no longer confined to entertainment. Around the world, the underlying toolsets, workflows, and philosophies of game design – from real-time 3D simulation and virtual production to behavioural systems and playful interaction design – are transforming industries including healthcare, heritage, education, architecture, advanced manufacturing and more.
More Than Games connects the games industry with high-growth enterprises, public sector challenge holders, cultural partners and many other sectors interested in exploring the potential of playful thinking to solve real-world problems. To support an upcoming events roster, we’ve launched an open call for those using game design and technology to create engaging solutions and experiences to join a growing collective of collaborators and thought leaders.
Expanding Beyond the Consumer Bubble
The consumer games industry is facing unprecedented challenges. Applied games and convergent technology offer new opportunities for individuals with transferable skills and studios seeking new revenue streams.
- Healthcare & Life Sciences: Simulation, clinical training environments, mental health tools, and gamified rehabilitation.
- Cultural Heritage: Interactive interpretation, digital archiving, immersive museum installations, and digital twin environments.
- Automotive & Advanced Manufacturing: Real-time data visualisation, architectural digital twins, defence training, and industrial simulation.
- Education & Future Skills: Applied learning mechanics, procedural curriculum tools, and experiential digital education.
Who Should Apply?
If your studio, agency, or independent practice has delivered projects, prototypes, or research that deploy game technology outside the traditional games market, we want to hear from you.
The call is open to practitioners across the interactive and digital creative spectrum, whether you are an established studio director, an indie technologist, an academic researcher, or a freelance interaction designer:
- Studio founders and technical leads delivering B2B, applied, or serious games.
- Creative technologists working in real-time engines (Unreal, Unity, Godot) across non-games sectors.
- Specialists in gamification, behavioural motivation, and interactive user experience.
- Developers who have partnered with heritage bodies, NHS trusts, enterprise organisations, or public agencies.
