Elgin has long established itself as the most (we think) northerly games hub in the UK. As the home of the excellent Moray Game Jam, the internationally successful Hunted Cow, and the specialised engineering team at Code Wizards, the region has a deep-rooted history of digital creativity – and a community of beautiful people. Now, that ecosystem is set to expand with the launch of a new public-facing event: the Indie Arcade Moray (IAM) Gaming Expo.
Taking place on Saturday 3 October 2026 at the Alexander Graham Bell Centre within UHI Moray, the expo is being organised by Andrew French and the team at Indie Game Squad. The event is designed as a dedicated showcase to connect independent developers with an engaged, regional audience.
A Space for Connection and Craft
The inaugural IAM Gaming Expo moves the takes games from across Scotland into a professional, public-facing space. The goal is to provide a platform where developers can put their work directly into the hands of players, fostering genuine connection and gathering real-world feedback.
A Call to Action for Scottish Developers
The organisers are encouraging solo developers, teams, and established studios from across Scotland to get involved. The expo offers a rare opportunity to showcase projects to a public audience that is all too rare across Scotland. Whether a project is an experimental prototype, a retro-inspired title, or a polished commercial release, it is invited to take a place on the floor in Elgin.
The event will be a full-scale celebration of the sector, featuring gaming tournaments, a vendor and artist marketplace, and a dedicated track for talks and workshops. It is a chance for creators to connect with other studios and share their development process with a community that is hungry for new experiences.
Supporting the Northern Ecosystem
Sponsorship, vendor, and speaker applications are open now, providing a high-value opportunity for partners to support the grassroots of the Scottish industry.
The arrival of the I AM Expo in Elgin is a brilliant new addition to the games calendar in the North of Scotland. If you’ve not yet made it up to the Moray Game Jam, this is an opportunity to meet and connect with one of the friendliest, most creative and tight knit games communities in Scotland.
