CYGNI: All Guns Blazing - OUT NOW FROM Keelworks

CYGNI: All Guns Blazing is a twin-stick vertical scrolling shooter (shmup!) that delivers old-school nostalgia with next-generation high-quality graphics, animation and intense action. It’s OUT NOW for PlayStation5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Blacknut games streaming service.

CYGNI is the first release from Edinburgh-based Keelworks and is published worldwide by Konami. An unrelenting onslaught of eye-popping visuals, ear-bursting soundscapes and mind-melting action makes CYGNI is already attracting critical acclaim from the media.

Fight For Survival

Outgunned and outmanned, plunge into a sky full of hell in a last-ditch war for survival. Choose to route energy between weapons or shield systems and go up against unrelenting waves of ground and aerial enemies. Upgrade your ship and take down colossal alien bosses in visceral combat; do whatever it takes to survive.

CYGNI assaults the eyes, ears and mind to deliver an extraordinarily exhilarating video game experience. CYGNI does not seek to reinvent Shoot’em Ups but to elevate the genre to deliver the heightened sensations of a truly next-generation experience.

Encamped within the remains of a long-lost civilization on the planet CYGNI, the colony is decimated by a surprise attack from a powerful, biomechanical, alien race. As one of the last pilots on one of the very few remaining carriers in the fleet, you are the only line of defence against the unyielding alien bombardment.

Meet KeelWorks…

KeelWorks is a Scottish videogame development company founded by brothers Meher and Nareg Kalenderian, along with Helen Saouma. Debut game, CYGNI, was first announced in May 2020, showcasing an early prototype stage, entirely created, and developed by Nareg and Helen, both with extensive experience in the movie, animation, and now, game industry. Meanwhile, Meher oversees all business and management matters as the company’s CEO.

The initial announcement trailer for CYGNI gained online traction and media interest, leading to a publishing deal with Konami Digital Entertainment in October 2021. With this new partnership, the company established a studio, recruited new team members (which has grown to 11 members), dedicated full-time to the production of CYGNI.

In addition to the development team, KeelWorks has an in-house music composer and orchestrator, Vatche Kalenderian, who is responsible for composing the soundtrack of CYGNI.

Scottish Games Network has an exclusive interview with Meher Kalenderian following the release of CYGNI, which we’ll be bringing you in the very near future.
