Scottish Parliament Cross Party Group To Discuss Games

The new Scottish Parliament cross-party group on Creative Economy is holding a session called Game On, which will focus on support for Scotland’s games industry.

The session will include speakers from across the games ecosystem and highlight for the MSPs and group members the size, the diversity and the enormous potential of videogames to Scotland’s future as a digital society.

The Future Of Scotland’s Games Ecosystem

The session takes place at a crucial point in time for the whole games ecosystem in Scotland. The implementation of the Logan Report – Scottish Tech Ecosystem Review – is now underway, with new funding available and major changes being made to education and infrastructure for the whole of Scotland’s digital tech sector, including games.

The games ecosystem in Scotland has to be engaged and active within the STER programme and capable of ensuring that the value of the sector – commercially, creatively and culturally – is recognised and supported.

The Game On CPG will be entirely online, and will take place on Wednesday 23 February, from 19:0020:00.

Cross Party Group on Creative Economy

The purpose of the new creative economy CPG is to “exchange ideas and learning around the development and support of the future creative economy”.

The group will consider support for creative economy in Scotland, exploring barriers to success and highlighting any potential solutions. The group may consider topics including Brexit; enterprise agencies; regional economic partnerships; economic and industrial strategy; partnership working and wellbeing economy.
