The game, which combines the epic scale of World of Warcraft or Runescape, but is entirely browser-based and free-to-play, is due for release later in 2013 after a similarly epic development. The game has been in development for almost eight years and has cost the company around £1M in development costs.
Hunted Cow has real experience in the MMORPG field. The company’s previous titles, including Fallen Sword, Gothador and Solar Fleet I & II have gained over 4M registered users in the last several year.
Combining exclusive in-game content and real world merchandise, the founder packs start at $10 for Bronze, rising to $60 for Platinum and $1000 for the Diamond pack.
Amongst the in-game items are exclusive pets, vanity items and a unique emote for all Founders. Some of the physical merchandise includes t-shirts, a full colour hardback art book, a unique Eldevin keyring and a large canvas map of the Kingdom itself…
John Stewart, the Producer of Eldevin, told us:
We’re pushing forward at great speed with Eldevin and we’re excited to have reached two major milestones today! We’re hoping to increase the level cap for the game again later this month and follow soon after with Open Beta Weekends where we’re including even more game content. We’ve added some new features at players’ requests and are continuing to improve the game based on their feedback. Our beta testers have been great and we’ve had fun hanging out with them on the forum!
Eldevin is set in a corrupt fantasy world on the precipice of all out war. Players can join the Eldevin army, or the Mages of the Arcane Council, in a quest to recover magical artefacts, which have pushed the kingdom to the brink of disaster.
In the Eldevin closed beta, players can experience the first 35 levels of the game and specialise in any of the six talent trees – templar, warrior, assassin, ranger, mage and prophet.
In the first 35 levels (of 50 currently available in closed beta) the player will fight against threats from within, as well as agents, henchmen, demons and battlemages of the Infernal Empire.
The game runs entirely within a web browser, using Java technology. This means it runs on all major web browsers, with no additional downloads or lengthy installation. Eldevin does not require high end graphics processors and will work on the majority of netbooks, laptops and desktops running Windows, Mac OS or Linux, making Eldevin accessible to almost every computer user.
Players wishing for a chance to participate in the closed beta test can apply now at https://beta.eldevin.com You can find the founder packs here.
