Debut games include Harvest Hunt and Slopecrashers
Big news from the team at Neonhive this morning, with the news that the award-winning marketing agency has launched its own publishing label: NeonHive Games.
NeonHive Games will offer its new publishing services alongside the company’s existing community, marketing, PR and influencer agency campaigns. Neon Hive has established an enviable reputation in recent years, with campaigns for titles including: Warhammer Skulls, The Room: Tenth Anniversary, and Tangle Tower.
2023 was a standout year for Neon Hive, which won Creative Agency of the Year at the MCV/Develop Awards, alongside individual award nominations and wins for team members. The agency hosted WASD’s first-ever Creator Lounge in April, welcoming hundreds of creators to the event in London. Neon Hive was also the driving force behind the £66,000 raised for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity’s Games for the Weans campaign, curating the first-ever Scottish Games Sale on Steam, which featured over 100+ games from Scottish developers and publishers.
Korina Abbott, the CEO and founder of NeonHive, told the Scottish Games Network:
This feels like such a natural next step for us. We have hit the ground running with our established teams that have huge trust and connections within the industry, and that have been helping developers self-publish for the last six years. I’m over the moon that one of our first signings is a previous client!”
NeonHive Games’ Launch Titles
NeonHive Games’ launch lineup includes Villainous Games Studio’s Harvest Hunt, a folk horror roguelike that will feature in IGN’s Fan Fest later today with a tense new trailer voiced by Samantha Béart (Baldur’s Gate 3). Harvest Hunt challenges players to take on the role of The Warden and protect their village from the ever-present threat of The Devourer. Each nightplayers draw from your deck of Whispers, and go forth into the Farmlands of Luna Nova, gathering resources that are crucial to the survival of their people.
You are the first and only line of defence for your people, so you must make it through the night…
Mark Drew, the Creative Director at VIllianous Games Studios, said:
Collaborating with NeonHive Games has been crucial for us at Villainous Games Studio so that we can realise our vision and share it with the gaming community. This partnership marks a significant milestone for us, and we’re excited to see players immerse themselves in the world we’ve created in Harvest Hunt. With the right team up, we hope to show that small studios can make a big impact.”
Neonhive Games’ second title, Slopecrashers, made by solo developer and previous client of Neonhive’s agency side, Johannes Lugstein at Byteparrot, was recently selected to be part of Xbox’s Winterfest demo festival in December. Take to the slopes as a Snowboarding animal in this colourful arcade combat racer that has been taking TikTok by storm. Coming to PC, Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series S/X later this year, Slopecrashers is a cross-platform party game the whole family can enjoy.
Johannes Lugstein, the founder of Byteparrot, said:
I previously worked with NeonHive on marketing pushes for my game and always loved the positive energy when working with them. After they told me of their publishing plans and how they would love to help with the release of Slopecrashers, I got really excited and am very much looking forward to pushing this game to the finish line together!
