When was the last time you thought seriously about your plans for making videogames your career? More and more developers are discovering that the opportunity to create their own games is the biggest opportunity in front of them.
Freelancing, or building your own studio brings about all sorts of creative freedom and autonomy, but it’s important to add some structured thinking to your career too. How is your business going right now? Is it headed where you want it to be? How do you reach that next step?
Creative Edinburgh is bringing back its digital skills programme Raise Your Game, which provides creative practitioners with the space, confidence and skills required to reflect on and work toward the next stage of their career.
With a focus on digital tools, data and future-proof working models, Raise Your Game will help you refocus your career goals and the knowledge you need to achieve them over eight sessions tied to three themes – taking stock, making moves and thinking forward. These will be delivered by a range of pioneers and business leaders with years of experience growing their own freelance practice.
Raise Your Game will be delivered on Thursday mornings between 10:30 – 13:30 from 29 April to 24 June.
Who is Raise Your Game for?
The programme has been designed with early stage freelancers, creatives, and those unsure of their next steps in mind, with additional resources encouraging self-reflection, peer support and further development throughout the programme and beyond.
How do I sign up?
You can book all eight sessions at a discounted rate, or opt to drop in to specific sessions of your choice.
As a Bundle Attendee, you join a cohort of 20 who will attend all eight workshops with you throughout the programme. You’ll also receive additional support and check-ins from the Creative Edinburgh team.

Bookings open on Friday 26 March and close on Monday 12 April.
Drop-in Attendees can snap up one of the 10 extra spaces in one (or a few) sessions for a more tailored approach to your skills development.

Funded Places
With the support of Data Skills for Work, Creative Edinburgh has a number of fully funded places available for creative freelancers who have lost significant income over the last 12 months. The organisation is particularly encouraging those from rural communities surrounding the Edinburgh City Region, including the Lothians, Fife and the Scottish Borders to get in touch.
