Videogame Jobs Scotland: February 2021

While all of us in Scotland are anxiously waiting for things to open up, perhaps we can interest you in some things that are already open? 

That’s right, we’ve been on the blower to the country’s development studios, technology companies and employers and rounded up a steamy fresh batch of videogame job openings in Scotland.

It’s going to take much more than a pandemic to keep the Scottish games industry down – just look at all these jobs! 

Civic Digits

Civic Digits is a boundary-pushing theatre company that’s exploring what it means to be a human in the 21st century by incorporating digital technology, video games and live performance into their productions. 

As a feminist, anti-racist and intersectional organisation, the company is committed to “creating a digital future where we can all flourish” and, in particular, encouraging young girls to pursue careers in STEM subjects.

Civic Digits are currently looking to hire a Creative Technologist to provide R&D support on an upcoming project. Applicants should have a strong understanding of cyber security, be familiar with web development and Linux command line and be passionate about working with young people.

Tag Games

Based in swanky new digs in Dundee city centre, Tag are a very busy mobile developer with some big name clients, including the BBC, Adult Swim, Ubisoft and EA. They’ve worked on franchises like Might & Magic and Angry Birds, producing industry leading products for Anroid and iOS devices. 

Tag are currently looking for a Senior Producer, along various other kinds of team members across art, code and design.

An award-winning and BAFTA-nominated mobile developer, Outplay have been creating original IP and producing high quality branded content for more than 10 years. The Dundee-based studio has amassed more than 100 million downloads across its growing catalogue, which includes Chef Blast, a game developed with Gordon Ramsey

Soluis

Working with augmented and mixed reality, VR, motion graphics and various other kinds of visual technologies, Soluis is a design company focused on visual engagement. The firm’s clients have included Barclays, Everton Football Club and the University of Glasgow, for whom they have produced innovative projects which “embrace the continually evolving nature of digital media”.

Solius is currently looking for a freelance Real Time Artist with an in-depth knowledge of Unreal Engine and 3DS Max. They are specifically interested in applicants with game engine experience who excel in producing photo realistic models, textures and lighting.

Creative Fruit

Creative Fruit is a consultancy offering audience insights, project support and resource services to businesses in the creative sector. 

They are currently working with a client that is creating immersive 3D learning tools utilising games technology in a project that brings together academics, developers, creatives and gamers.

Creative Fruit are hiring a Studio Lead and a Web Designer, with both roles open to remote working as well as the option to relocate to Glasgow, Sheffield or Dubai following the pandemic.

ChangingDay

ChangingDay is a new Scottish company that’s harnessing the potential of VR to create innovative experiences designed specifically for austistic people. 

They are looking for two highly-skilled individuals, preferably with Unity experience, to help bring their first projects to life – a Software Developer and a 3D Artist.
