Navigating the Now – Preparing For The New Normal

LIke many other industries, the games sector has been significantly impacted by the Covid19 crisis. The normal ways of doing business have changed, possibly for the long-term.

International industry events and the accepted ways of pitching, networking and selling games have all been forced online. With change occurring on an ongoing basis, how can games companies adapt to this new reality?

UKIE has organised Navigating The Now, a new (online) event, which brings togethers experts from a broad range of backgrounds, to help games businesses understand and take advantage of the new opportunities to get in front of investors, publishers and the press.

The event also incorporates a game showcase, to help UK studios promote themselves and their latest titles.

Taking place on the 3rd and 4th of June, Navigating the Now is free to attend.

Talks and presentations take place from 10:00 13:00 on Wednesday 3rd June and feature speakers from organisations which can help games businesses navugate and adapt to the rapid changes facing the industry.

These include:

  • Sheridans (Funding Your Studio in a Pandemic)
  • UKIE (IP Protection)
  • Neon Hive (Using Online & Social Platforms to Promote Your Games)
  • Cousin Media Group (How Gamers Are Consuming Content)
  • Elite Game Developers (How to Pitch Over Video Calls)
  • Kantar (How Covid19 Has Changed the Market)

From 14:00 – 16:00 on Wednesday 3rd and 10:00 – 12:00 on Thursday 4th, the UKIE Games Showcase will give studios across the country a chance to demo their latest titles to investors, publishers and the media.

There are over 20 games on show, from hypercasual titles, through to the latest games from studios including Spilt Milk, Branching Narrative, Dovetail and Stone Spark.
