The Move Summit, Scotland’s home-grown animation festival is returning for its fourth year, offering a larger and more diverse programme than ever before, including games giants Rockstar, Epic, Axis and Unity.
Taking place in Edinburgh from the 19th to the 21st of February, the festival offers a huge range of events for animation industry leaders, practitioners, students and educators alike.
Industry & Emerging Talent
Move celebrates Scotland’s pioneering and award-winning commercial animation sector, with three days of inspiring talks, workshops, networking sessions and professional development, all focused on the latest and greatest in the international animation and visual effects (vfx) industries.
Day one of Move is focused on emerging talent and students, while the following two days pull in representatives from the industry worldwide.
Sponsored by Screen Scotland and in partnership with Screen Skills UK, Move 2020 offers a stellar line up of speakers from international studios, including Disney Animation Studio, Pixar, Netflix, Industrial Light and Magic, Axis, Blue Zoo, Rockstar Games, Unity and Epic Games.
The new Scottish chapter of Animated Women will curate sessions delivered by leading women from across the animation industry.
Move 2020 also introduces a brand new curated business-to-business and freelance networking sessions as well as the increasingly famous Drink & Draw and MOVE Late evening events.
The programme has been expanded to include a business-led component which includes business 1:1s and recruitment drives by independent studios and production companies. With the presence of UK-wide agencies and commissioners it will be a prime opportunity for local creative talent to showcase their work and pitch to agencies they might not otherwise have the opportunity to. From the agency and commissioning side it will be a great opportunity to scope out potential creative suppliers and collaborators currently leading the way in Scotland.
The 1:1 meetings will have representatives from commissioners of children’s animation, creative agencies, funding bodies, award winning studios and development agencies. The sessions are available to delegates of the industry days of MOVE Summit and will be on a first come, first served basis. Contributors include: Netflix, BBC (Children’s Animation & Puppetry and BBC Children’s, Scotland & N.I), BFI, Blue Zoo, AXIS Studio, Union, PUNK and The&Partnership plus more to be announced soon!
The full programme and lineup of speakers can be found on the Move Summit website.
