2015 Moray Game Jam OPEN FOR ENTRIES

moray game jam 20152014 saw the inaugural Moray Games Jam take place at Elgin College in the Scottish Highlands and Islands. As far as we can tell, it remains the most northerly game jam in the UK… It was excellent. 45 designers, artists and developers took part and a wild time was had be all.

Now the 2015 jam has been announced – and it promises to build on the success of last year to offer even more people the chance to join in and make a game in only 48 hours.

The jam offered some exceptional opportunities for the winners, with Powerpunch Games being offered the chance to work with local company Hunted Cow to complete and release their game, Vaccine.

This year, the jam will take once more place at Moray College in Elgin. It’s free to enter, but space is limited. The dates are the 20th-22nd of March.

Hexagonal Jam JarsIn addition to pure design and game creation, this year the jam is also offering a series of workshops to help aspiring game designers find out more about what it take to build a world class game. The workshops are also free – and open to everyone – not just jam competitors. The workshops are:

    • Entry level 3D modelling in Blender – Gary Groves, Moray College UHI (9.30-11.00) sign up
    • Introduction to Unity – Stuart Gray, Hex War (11.30 – 12.30) sign up
    • YOYO Gamemaker – Making a simple game in an hour – Andrew Mulholland, Hunted Cow Studios (13.30 – 14.30) sign up
    • Masterclass on Game Design – Alan Emrich, Victory Point Games (15.00 – 17.00) sign up

It’s a great opportunity, a great weekend and a great chance to meet industry contacts, make something awesome and kick start your career in the games sector.

We’ll see you there…
