Outplay has even more reason to celebrate the festive season this year. The company has just revealed that it’s exceeded 20 million downloads of its mobile games.
The company’s portfolio of games is experiencing average downloads of around 32,000 per day across iOS and Android.
Outplay’s mobile games cover a broad spectrum of genres and styles, including word games, puzzle titles, strategy, tower defence and… pet rescue.
Doug Hare, Outplay’s CEO told us:
Our goal from the start has been to have a portfolio approach with games that appeal to the mass audience. Surpassing 20 Million downloads is a testament to the team’s ability to create games that stand out as fun and engaging in a market that is incredibly competitive. Our growth is accelerating and we’re actively looking to add to our team as we expand our portfolio further and reach more people on their smartphones and tablets each day.
Outplay President, Richard Hare, agrees:
We realise that there are people of all ages that play our games and there are a lot of ways we can provide entertainment. Bite Size Games is our new label to deliver compact game experiences that are fast, and free.
2014 has been a good year for Outplay. In May the company secured a new $5 million round of funding from Oford Capital to help the company grow. Bite Size Games, Outplay’s new label for ‘more compact’ games launched, with the first title, Pug Rapids proving that the squash-faced canines are as inexplicably popular as ever, bringing the studio’s mobile portfolio to a total of six games (and another three in development). Throw in several award nominations, editor’s choice selections and you’ve got a heady mix of success.
