Edinburgh Interactive – One Week To Go…

It’s a mere seven days until the start of the 2011 Edinburgh Interactive festival which this year takes place in the Radisson Blu Hotel in the capital’s Royal Mile.

Offering a blend of industry conference and public events, EI11 promises to deliver an interesting and varied programme, featuring speakers from STV chief Rob Woodward, exploring the future of digital TV as a gaming platform; through to Jagex boss Mark Gerhard, who’ll be looking at the Multiplayer Revolution.

The public programme is just as varied, with free sessions looking at everything from how to get into the games industry, gaming in education and how to get out there and build your own games.  Space is limited and seats will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Edinburgh Interactive takes place on the 11th and 12th of August, which dovetails the event with Dare ProtoPlay which takes place in Dundee on the 12th-14th.

The Edinburgh event has suffered over the last couple of years from changing venues and a lack of focus on the industry versus consumer aspects.  The 2011 event now has an entirely new structure, is located in the city centre and promises to take the whole festival in a new direction.

It’s an event which deserves more support and recognition within the wider Scottish digital media and interactive sectors.  So, if you’re around Edinburgh next week, take the chance and head to the Royal Mile for EI11.

We’ll gladly run any coverage or reporting from the event…
