Outplay HQ – Dundee – OFFICIAL

When we last heard from Outplay Entertainment – the new social and mobile games publisher, founded by Douglas and Richard Hare – they had launched the company with some ambitious recruitment plans and the best wishes of the Scottish Government ringing in their ears.

Then it went a little bit quiet.  Well, it turns out the company has hard at work.  They’ve been recruiting – hard – and looking for an appropriate headquarters from which to launch their new assault on the outer edges of the rapidly evolving games market.

Now, however, the company has announced its new global HQ and it puts Outplay smack in the middle of Dundee’s digital quarter.

Outplay is now officially located in Dundee’s shiny and exciting Vision Building – alongside fellow gaming pioneers, Ruffian Games.

We asked founders Doug and Richard Hare for a couple of words on why they decided to move to Dundee…

Douglas Hare, co-founder and CEO of Outplay Entertainment, said: “Establishing Outplay’s global headquarters was a crucial first step for the company.  We considered various locations in North America and Europe but Dundee stood out for a number of reasons, not least the concentration of talent, comprehensive support and the level of expertise across every organisation we encountered.  Dundee has a long and proud history of creating world class games and we’re thrilled to be locating Outplay in the city at a crucial period in the ongoing evolution of the global gaming market.”

Richard Hare, co-founder and President of Outplay agrees: “For a social and mobile games publisher, Dundee has a great deal to offer Outplay.  It is home to several independent developers active on these platforms and related technologies, as well as academic institutions including the University of Abertay which is recognised globally as a pioneer within the interactive sector.  We’re delighted to be here.”

Outplay is still looking for new staff.  If you’re interested in finding out more, visit the official recruitment website.
